6-Aminopyridine-3-boronic acid is an affinity ligand that has been used in magnetic and analytical methods. It is a water soluble compound with a high affinity for acidic molecules, such as magnesium ions. 6-Aminopyridine-3-boronic acid has been used to detect magnesium in human urine and other biological fluids. The functional group of this molecule is a boronate ester, which forms a covalent bond with the target molecule. The labile nature of this compound makes it unsuitable for long term storage or use.
