• Beschreibung: 1-Methylpiperazine-2,5-dione is a selective inhibitor of peptide transporter 2 (PEPT2). It has been shown to inhibit the uptake of 1-methylpiperazine by wild-type mice. This is due to its ability to coordinate with sodium ions and anionic sites in the gut. 1-Methylpiperazine-2,5-dione also binds to the transmembrane domain of PEPT2 and blocks the transport of peptides through the membrane. This drug may be useful as a radiotracer for imaging techniques such as X-ray diffraction or electron microscopy. It may also be used as an antispasmodic drug for treatments of gastrointestinal disorders.
