2-Bromoacetamide is a molecule with a reactive group. It is used as an acylating agent in chemical reactions, such as glycosylation and the formation of ester bonds. 2-Bromoacetamide has been used to treat inflammatory diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis and psoriasis, by inhibiting the production of prostaglandins. This molecule has also been shown to inhibit protein synthesis in cells from patients with autoimmune diseases. 2-Bromoacetamide inhibits the activity of glycoconjugates by irreversible inhibition of glycosidases that are involved in the synthesis of glycoconjugates.
