This drug also has inhibitory properties, which may be due to its ability to disrupt the disulfide bonds of proteins. The inhibition of protein transport by 3-bromopropylamine hydrobromide can lead to decreased levels of cellular protein synthesis. 3-Bromopropylamine hydrobromide is soluble in water and has a redox potential that can be measured with a coulometric electrode at +0.8 V vs Ag/AgCl.
