It is an acidic drug with a pKa of 3.8, which makes it ionizable in biological fluids. 4-Bromo-2,5-difluorobenzoic acid inhibits the activity of CYP2C9 and CYP2D6 by binding to the pharmacophore region of these enzymes. 4-Bromo-2,5-difluorobenzoic acid also has an isosteric functionality that increases its selectivity for CYP2C9 and CYP2D6 over other cytochrome P450 isoforms.
