Beschreibung

4'-Bromo-2,2,2-trifluoroacetophenone is a pesticide that has been shown to have cardiac effects. It blocks the passage of calcium ions into the heart cells by inhibiting the opening of voltage-gated calcium channels in the cell membrane. This action causes an increase in blood pressure and a decrease in cardiac contractility. 4'-Bromo-2,2,2-trifluoroacetophenone also inhibits mitochondrial cytochrome oxidase and prevents cellular respiration. The concentration-response curve for this compound was determined using rat myocardial tissue. Cardiac dysfunction can be treated with inotropes like dopamine to increase cardiac contractility and maintain blood pressure.
