Beschreibung

4-(Benzyloxy)benzoyl chloride (4BBAC) is a synthetic chemical compound that belongs to the group of organic compounds known as benzoyl chlorides. It has been shown to inhibit the replication of RNA in cells by binding to the catalytic site of mammalian and bacterial protein kinases. 4BBAC is selective for the inhibition of protein kinases that contain an active serine or threonine residue in their active site, such as cyclin-dependent kinase 2 (CDK2). The stereoselectivity of 4BBAC is due to its hydroxy group, which can be substituted with either a hydrogen or chlorine atom. The hydroxy group is required for the reaction to proceed and thus makes 4BBAC a useful tool for studying enzymes with a serine or threonine residue in their active site.
