Beschreibung

5-(Benzylthio)-1,3,4-thiadiazol-2-amine is an antibacterial agent that binds to the copper in the staphylococcus cells and prevents the uptake of copper by these bacteria. This prevents the synthesis of new proteins, leading to cell death. 5-(Benzylthio)-1,3,4-thiadiazol-2-amine has shown strong efficacy against human cancer cells and can be used as a chemotherapeutic agent for cancer treatment. The functional theory states that this drug binds to the chlorine atom in staphylococcus cells and inhibits protein synthesis by preventing uptake of a chemical species necessary for this process. The technique used to determine the efficiency of this drug was Langmuir adsorption isotherm analysis.
