Beschreibung

2-(Benzylthio)ethyl]amine hydrochloride is a chemical compound with the molecular formula C6H10N2S. It is an amine that has been shown to be useful for the synthesis of deazapurines, which are analogues of purines. The compound was synthesized by reacting benzyl mercaptan with ethylamine in dioxane at high temperatures. This reaction yielded a mixture of chlorides and sulfones, which were then removed by precipitation with methanol. The 2-(benzylthio)ethyl]amine hydrochloride was then purified by recrystallization from hexane-diethyl ether mixtures.
