It also prevents the cleavage of RNA and protein synthesis which blocks the production of new cells in bacterial colonies. The drug has a broad spectrum of activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms, including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). The drug has been shown to be effective against isolates resistant to ciprofloxacin, such as Enterobacteriaceae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Acinetobacter baumannii, and Klebsiella pneumoniae.
