Beschreibung

1-Butyrylproline is a chiral compound that can be transformed into the active isomer by crystallization. Racemic mixture is obtained from the reaction of 1-butyrylproline with chloroform and isomerized to the active form by catalytic transformation. The racemization of 1-butrylproline under supercooled conditions leads to an optically inactive product. The transformation of 1-butylproline into its enantiomer, known as 2-butyrylproline, is a difficult process because it must be done in a crystallized form.
1-Butyrylproline has been shown to be an effective inhibitor of cyclic AMP phosphodiesterase (PDE).
