Produktinformation
- (2R)-3-Bromo-2-hydroxy-2-methylpropionic acid
D-bromo-3-hydroxy-2-methylpropanoic acid is a synthetic nonsteroidal antiandrogen that inhibits the binding of dihydrotestosterone (DHT) to its receptor. DHT is an androgen that is synthesized from testosterone in tissues such as the prostate, seminal vesicles, and hair follicles. DHT has been shown to cause prostate hyperplasia and endometriosis in women. In addition, it has been found to inhibit the synthesis of estrogens in the ovaries and may be used to treat hypogonadism. It also has been shown to have anticancer effects by inhibiting DNA synthesis and inducing apoptosis in human tumor cells. The drug also has been evaluated for use as a contraceptive because it blocks progesterone production by preventing ovulation.
