Beschreibung:5-(Bromomethyl)-3-phenylisoxazole is a methoxy-bromo analog of fluoroquinolones. It has the same mode of action as fluoroquinolones, binding to DNA and inhibiting bacterial topoisomerases (DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV). The affinity of 5-(Bromomethyl)-3-phenylisoxazole for these enzymes is greater than that of the parent compound, which may account for its increased potency. 5-(Bromomethyl)-3-phenylisoxazole is synthesized by reacting biphenyl with a mixture of bromoethane and methyl iodide in an organic solvent.
