Butyl9-hydroxyfluorene-9-carboxylate is a growth regulator that belongs to the group of nitro compounds. It is used as an agrochemical, especially for the control of invasive weeds in rice fields. Butyl9-hydroxyfluorene-9-carboxylate is degraded by acid formation, which prevents its accumulation in the environment. This compound has been shown to be degradable by tissue cultures and ether extracts from triticum aestivum. The neutral form of this compound can be stabilized with an ethyl group.
