Produktinformation
- Benzenesulfonamide, 4-(Bromomethyl)-
4-Bromomethylbenzenesulfonamide (4BMBS) is an antibacterial agent that is a quaternary ammonium salt. It is used in the manufacture of cinchonidine, which is a drug that lowers blood pressure by blocking the activity of angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE). 4BMBS has been shown to have potent inhibition against carbonic anhydrase, which is an enzyme involved in the conversion of carbon dioxide and water to bicarbonate and protons. This compound also inhibits the Cox-1 and Cox-2 enzymes, which are involved in prostaglandin production. 4BMBS has been shown to inhibit alkylation of proteins as well as hydrophobic functionalities.
