7-Bromoindoline is a tricyclic compound that belongs to the class of natural products. It has been used as a lead compound for drug discovery and is synthesized from an aryl halide and palladium. 7-Bromoindoline has been shown to be active against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and Mycobacterium tuberculosis, with the latter being attributed to its ability to inhibit protein synthesis by binding to bacterial RNA polymerase. 7-Bromoindoline also exhibits anti-inflammatory properties, which may be due to its ability to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis.
