N-(4-Bromo-3-methylphenyl)acetamide is a reagent that is used in the synthesis of β-cyclodextrin. This compound is prepared by reacting 3,4-dihydroxypyridine with acetanilide to form an anisole intermediate. The bromination of this intermediate using NBS leads to the formation of the desired product.
