It is a competitive antagonist at the muscarinic M1 receptor and displays high affinity for the dopamine D2 receptor in vitro. Moreover, it increases striatal dopamine concentrations in vivo and exhibits antiparkinsonian effects when administered intraperitoneally to rats.
