Bromomethylcyclobutane binds to the serine protease domain of the δ opioid receptors and inhibits protein synthesis by inhibiting uptake of amino acids into cells. It also prevents the formation of cellular proteins by binding to the hydroxyl group on lysine residues on DNA or RNA.
