Beschreibung

Bis(cyclopentadienyl)cobalt (III) hexafluorophosphate is an anhydrous form of cobalt hexafluorophosphate. It has a yellow colour and can be prepared by the following preparative method:
1. Dissolve cobalt chloride in dry acetone to give a clear solution.
2. Add dry phosphoric acid dropwise to the solution with stirring until the mixture turns yellow.
3. Stir for 30 min, then allow to stand at room temperature for 2 hours and filter off the solid material.
4. Rinse with ether, then wash with water and dry over magnesium sulfate.
5. Heat at 140-150 °C for 1 hour until all moisture has evaporated, then cool and store in a desiccator under vacuum at room temp or below.
