Bis(2-chloroethoxy)methane is a glycol ether that is used as an industrial chemical and in the production of pharmaceuticals. It has been shown to be toxic to humans, causing cardiac toxicity at high doses. Bis(2-chloroethoxy)methane is also known to cause cancer in rats and mice. This compound binds to calcium and magnesium ions, which may account for its observed toxicity.
