• Beschreibung: 5-trans-Bimatoprost is a synthetic prostaglandin analog that inhibits the activity of cyclooxygenase, leading to the production of vasodilatory and anti-inflammatory prostanoids. It is used in ophthalmology as a glaucoma treatment. 5-trans-Bimatoprost is also used for the treatment of glaucoma, which can be caused by increased intraocular pressure from several factors such as age and diabetes mellitus. 5-trans-Bimatoprost also has hypotensive effects and can be used for patients with high blood pressure or heart failure. 5-trans-Bimatoprost was first synthesized in 1974 and has been shown to have a structural similarity to anandamide, which is an endocannabinoid that binds to CB1 receptors in the brain. This chemical structure may explain why 5-trans-Bimatoprost has similar biological effects as anandamide
