Beschreibung

(R)-2,2'-Bis(methoxymethoxy)-1,1'-binaphthyl is a fluorescent dye that has been used to detect and monitor DNA damage. It is synthesized by reacting benzyl alcohol with 2-chloro-5-nitrobenzaldehyde in the presence of sodium methoxide. The product is purified by recrystallization from methanol and characterized by its absorption spectrum and fluorescence emission spectrum. The target product absorbs at 447 nm and emits at 515 nm.
