4-(Benzyloxy)-3-methoxyphenylacetonitrile is an anti-cancer drug that belongs to the class of dihydroisoquinolines. It is used as a monomer in the synthesis of other drugs and it has been shown to be an effective inhibitor of cancer cells when used with carbamic acid. 4-(Benzyloxy)-3-methoxyphenylacetonitrile is synthesised through the reaction of 2,4-dichloroisonicotinic acid and 3-fluoroacetamide in the presence of a strong acid catalyst.
