• Beschreibung: Bromperidol decanoate is a long-acting injectable form of the antipsychotic drug Bromperidol. It is used to treat schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders, as well as for the short-term treatment of insomnia. Paliperidone is a selective serotonin antagonist that blocks postsynaptic serotonin receptors. It is structurally related to risperidone, but it has fewer extrapyramidal side effects. Bromperidol decreases the symptoms associated with chronic schizophrenia and also relieves agitation in psychiatric patients. This drug acts by binding to dopamine receptors in the brain and blocking dopamine activity, which reduces psychotic symptoms and improves concentration. The decanoate ester allows for a slow release of bromperidol into the bloodstream over time, while paliperidone is rapidly broken down by enzymes in the liver.
