- 10-Bromodecan-1-Ol
- 10-Bromodecanol
10-Bromo-1-decanol is a synthetic molecule that has been shown to have antimycobacterial activity. It has been synthesized by the reaction of 1,10-phenanthroline with bromoethane in the presence of sodium acetate and dry ethanol. The hydrogen bonding interactions between this molecule and leishmania are responsible for its antimycobacterial activity. This compound is also soluble in water, which makes it ideal for use in lung cells and other samples that require phase transition temperatures below 100 degrees Celsius. 10-Bromo-1-decanol can be identified using infrared spectroscopy since it has a helical structure and formyl group at its terminal end.
