Produktinformation
- 2-Benzofurancarboxylic acid, ethyl ester
- Ethyl 1-benzofuran-2-carboxylate
The synthesized compound, benzofuran-2-carboxylic acid ethyl ester (BFCE), is an isomeric of the more common benzofuran-2-carboxylic acid methyl ester (BMCM). It was synthesized by reacting a Grignard reagent with ethyl bromoacetate. The synthesis of BFCE was postulated due to its similarity to BMCM and its potential use as a precursor for other compounds. The reaction between the Grignard reagent and ethyl bromoacetate produces a mixture of three products: BFCE, ethyl 2-bromobenzofuran-5-carboxylate (EBBC), and methyl 2-(benzofuran-2-carbonyl)propanoate (MBPCP). The synthesis of BFCE was demonstrated using magnetic resonance spectroscopy, which showed that the product had been produced in high yield.
