3-Bromo-5-nitrotoluene is a hydrolytic and epimeric reagent that is used in the synthesis of various organic compounds. It is also used as a catalyst for optimizing the reaction conditions for deamination reactions, extracting methylene groups, and synthesizing high purity nitrobenzenes. 3-Bromo-5-nitrotoluene has been shown to be an effective catalyst for the hydrolysis of esters.
