9-Bromo-1-nonanol is an organic compound with the molecular formula CHBrNO. It is a hydrogen bond donor and has been used to study the interaction between human maltase glucoamylase and malonic acid. 9-Bromo-1-nonanol contains a hydroxy group, which undergoes hydrogen bonding interactions with other molecules. It also contains a fatty acid chain, which is made up of an acyl chain that can be modified by synthetic chemistry. The asymmetric synthesis of 9-bromo-1-nonanol has been shown to produce enantiomerically pure compounds.
