It has been shown to be toxic to humans at a concentration of about 100 ppm. Acute toxicity occurs after ingestion or inhalation of large amounts of 2-bromo-4-chlorophenol and manifests as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, dizziness, and muscle weakness. Toxic effects are more severe when exposure occurs via ingestion or inhalation than through skin contact with the liquid form of this chemical.
