Beschreibung

Beta-boswellic acid is a pentacyclic triterpenoid that has been shown to have anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and immunomodulatory properties. Beta-boswellic acid inhibits the activation of inflammatory cells such as polymorphonuclear leucocytes, macrophages, and lymphocytes by inhibiting the toll-like receptor 4. It also inhibits the oxidative injury in mitochondria and prevents mitochondrial dysfunction. Beta-boswellic acid has been shown to inhibit the production of proinflammatory cytokines like tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) and interleukin 1β (IL-1β), as well as other inflammatory mediators like nitric oxide (NO). Studies have shown that beta-boswellic acid is effective against oral pathogens such as Porphyromonas gingivalis and Prevotella nigrescens.
