Benzoyl-L-norvaline is a molecule that permeates the membrane surface and transports solutes. Benzoyl-L-norvaline has been shown to have a transport rate of 2.3 μm/s, with a permeability constant of 1.0 × 10−8 cm/sec and an overall permeability constant of 3.7 × 10−14 cm2/sec. The benzoyl-L-norvaline molecule has two dipole moments, which are perpendicular to each other and oriented in opposite directions. As such, the benzoyl-L-norvaline molecule is a vector that can be represented by two dipole vectors (D1, D2). These two vectors will form a resultant vector (R) when added together that is parallel to the plane of the membrane surface.
