• Beschreibung: The 1-bromo-3-phenylpropane is synthesized by the reaction of ethyl bromoacetate and magnesium chloride in the presence of l-tartaric acid. The product is obtained as a white crystalline solid, which can be purified by recrystallization from methanol. This compound has been shown to have a high affinity for the receptor binding site in the central nervous system and is therefore used as an imaging agent. It has also been shown to have a liquid crystal composition and its kinetic constants are studied at different temperatures. The mechanism of its synthesis is through a cross-coupling process with low energy.
