Beschreibung

1,3-Bis(4-methoxyphenyl)-1,3-propanedione is a compound that can be used as a sunscreen agent. It is a colorless liquid with a sweet odor. This compound has been shown to inhibit the polymerization of UV-absorbing compounds in sunscreens and protect against DNA damage caused by UV radiation. 1,3-Bis(4-methoxyphenyl)-1,3-propanedione also causes senescence in bacteria and damages the DNA of human skin cells. This compound has been shown to have luminescent properties when combined with zirconium oxide and has been used for cosmetic purposes such as moisturizing creams.
