Beschreibung

1-Butyl-3-methylimidazolium thiocyanate is a viscosity modifier that belongs to the class of ionic liquids. It is an ionic liquid that has been shown to have electrochemical impedance spectroscopy behavior similar to cycloalkanes, and can be used as a corrosion inhibitor in fuel cells. As a surface methodology, 1-Butyl-3-methylimidazolium thiocyanate has been studied in ternary mixtures with water and either an oil or an alcohol. It has also been shown to have potential as a phase equilibrium stabilizer for high pressure gas systems and linear models show that it has the ability to maintain fluid properties at high temperatures.
