- N-butyl-N-methyl-piperidinium bromide
- N-methyl-N-butylpiperidilium bromide
1-Butyl-1-methylpiperidinium bromide is a pyridinium salt with the chemical formula C6H14BrN. It is a colorless liquid with a high vapor pressure. 1-Butyl-1-methylpiperidinium bromide has been shown to be an effective extractant for chloride ions and can be used in the extraction of corilagin, which is a polyphenolic compound found in plant cell walls. The Langmuir adsorption isotherm for this compound shows that it has an optimum extraction process at pH 3 and a maximum adsorption capacity of 2.2 mg/g. This compound reacts with hydrochloric acid to produce hydrogen bromide, which in turn reacts with chlorine gas to form hydrobromic acid. 1-Butyl-1-methylpiperidinium bromide also undergoes photoelectron spectroscopy, which identifies its chemical structures
