Beschreibung:
2,6-Bis(2-benzimidazolyl)pyridine is a redox potential probe that has been shown to be sensitive to proton concentration. The nitrogen atoms in this compound coordinate with the metal ions and are important for intermolecular hydrogen bonding. 2,6-Bis(2-benzimidazolyl)pyridine forms an octahedral geometry. The molecule has a molecular weight of 238.29 g/mol and an x-ray crystal structure. This compound is used as an optical sensor for intracellular calcium concentrations and hydrogen bond studies.
