N-tert-Butylbenzenesulfenamide is a labile, gaseous, industrial additive that is used in the process of polymerization. It has been shown to be an effective inhibitor of tumor xenografts and abdominal adenocarcinomas. In vitro studies have shown that N-tert-butylbenzenesulfenamide inhibits β-unsaturated ketones and aldehydes from forming malonic acid. This inhibition prevents DNA synthesis and protein production in tumor cells, which leads to cell death.
