Benzoylthiocholine Iodide is a non-polymeric, aliphatic hydrocarbon with pyrithione and pyridinium moieties. It has been found to have antifungal and antimicrobial properties, as well as the ability to inhibit human serum proteases that are implicated in the development of atherosclerosis. Benzoylthiocholine Iodide is also a liquid crystal compound that can be used in clinical chemistry for the detection of chloride ions. The detection time is less than one minute.
