Beschreibung:
6-Bromo-L-tryptophan is a glycopeptide antibiotic that inhibits the synthesis of bacterial cell walls. It has been shown to be effective against human pathogens such as Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pneumoniae, and Escherichia coli. This drug is not active against Gram-positive bacteria because they lack the enzyme tryptophan synthase. 6-Bromo-L-tryptophan binds to the ribosome in the bacterial cytoplasm and blocks protein synthesis by inhibiting peptidyl transferase activity, thereby interfering with protein chain elongation. This drug also has antimicrobial properties due to its ability to inhibit bacterial growth through oxidative stress.
