Bis(trifluoromethylsulphonyl)methane can be synthesized from pentane, benzaldehyde and chlorine by treatment with hydrogen fluoride. This chemical is also found in flavonoids, including luteolin, apigenin, and hesperetin. The structure of bis(trifluoromethylsulphonyl)methane was determined by x-ray diffraction analysis.
