N-Benzyloxycarbonylalanyl-arginyl-arginyl-4-trifluoromethyl-7-coumarylamide is a synthetic, fluorescent, benzofuran derivative that binds to the protease site of haemonchus. This proteinase inhibitor inhibits the activity of the enzyme haemoprotease and therefore prevents the digestion of blood clotting factors and fibrinogen. N-Benzyloxycarbonylalanyl-arginyl-arginyl-4-trifluoromethyl-7-coumarylamide has been shown to inhibit proteases in vitro and in vivo and has been used as an experimental drug for treating thrombotic disorders.
