It is an enhancer, which can be used to enhance fluorescence spectroscopy and transfer of information between the nervous system and other parts of the body. 2-(Ethylamino)benzonitrile has been shown to have affinity for nuclear receptors, such as PPARs, which are involved in DNA transcription. This compound also has a high molecular weight and a cavity-like structure. The fluorescence spectrum of 2-(Ethylamino)benzonitrile has been reported at 360 nm with an emission maximum at 420 nm.
