Beschreibung:Cyclohexyl isocyanate (CHIC) is a chemical compound that has been shown to enhance the absorption of other drugs in the gastrointestinal tract. It also has a growth factor effect on cells. CHIC binds to proteins by forming a coordination complex with lysine residues, which can lead to changes in protein synthesis and cell division. The reaction mechanism for CHIC involves hydrolysis of the ester bond with water vapor, followed by protonation of the resulting acid and loss of CO2. This leads to formation of an amine salt, which is soluble in water. The analytical method for measuring CHIC is gas chromatography-chemical ionization-mass spectrometry (GC-CI-MS).
