Beschreibung

Cyclododecane epoxide is a mixture of two isomers, cis- and trans-cyclododecane epoxide. It is an epoxy compound that can be used as a solid catalyst in cationic polymerization reactions. The cis-isomer of cyclododecane epoxide has been shown to react with diazonium salt in the presence of a coordination complex to produce caproic acid. The trans-isomer of cyclododecane epoxide reacts with diazonium salt to form dodecanedioic acid. This compound has been shown to catalyze the oxidation of carbonyl groups and has been successfully used as an oxidation catalyst for the conversion of caprylic acid into caprylic acid methyl ester.
