2-Chloro-6-trifluoromethyl pyridine is an organic molecule with a molecular weight of 176.2 g/mol. It is a strong base that reacts vigorously with water to form hydrochloric acid and hydrogen gas. The compound is soluble in organic solvents such as benzene, acetonitrile, tetrahydrofuran, and diethyl ether. 2-Chloro-6-trifluoromethyl pyridine has been shown to be a 5-HT1A receptor agonist and inhibits the enzyme IDO1. This drug has minimal inhibitory concentrations in the range of 10−10 to 10−8 M against Gram positive bacteria, including Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pneumoniae. 2-Chloro-6-trifluoromethyl pyridine also inhibits growth of Gram negative bacteria such as Escherichia coli,
