1-(9H-Carbazol-4-Yloxy)-3-(1,1,2,2,3,3,3-Heptafluoropropyl-Propan-2-Ylamino)Propan-2-Ol Hydroiodide is a prodrug that is metabolized to the active form of propranolol. It has been shown to be a potent and selective β adrenergic receptor antagonist with stabilizing effects on cardiac fibrillation. 1-(9H-Carbazol-4-Yloxy)-3-(1,1,2,2,3,3,3-Heptafluoropropyl-Propan-2-Ylamino)Propan-2-Ol Hydroiodide inhibits the binding of catecholamines to β receptors in the heart and thus blocks the stimulatory effects on cardiac myocytes caused by these hormones.
