Beschreibung:2-Chlorothiazole is a solvent that is used in the chlorinating of acetylcholine. It has been shown to be carcinogenic in animals, but there is no evidence that it causes cancer in humans. 2-Chlorothiazole binds to the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor and blocks the neurotransmitter acetylcholine, which results in paralysis and death of insects. It has also been shown to have neonicotinoid properties. 2-Chlorothiazole is soluble in methanol and can be quantified using kinetic data or an analytical method involving human urine as a sample matrix. The reactivity of 2-chlorothiazole with hydrogen chloride yields chloromethyl ketone and chloride ions, which can be analyzed by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS).
