Catharanthine is a natural compound that has been shown to be effective against a wide range of infectious diseases. It inhibits the transcriptional regulation of bacterial enzymes that are responsible for the synthesis of virulence factors and toxins, including surface methodology, resistant mutants, enzyme activities, and biological properties. Catharanthine also has anti-inflammatory effects in human serum by inhibiting polymerase chain reaction (PCR) amplification bands for erythromycin resistance genes. Catharanthine is used as an ester hydrochloride in pharmaceuticals and chemical products.
