• Beschreibung: Cecropin P1 is a cecropin-like antimicrobial peptide that is found in the hemolymph of the cecropia moth. It has been shown to have antibacterial efficacy against human pathogens, including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). Structural analysis of cecropin P1 has shown that this peptide binds to bacterial 16S ribosomal RNA and inhibits protein synthesis, leading to cell death by inhibiting the production of proteins vital for cell division. Cecropin P1 also has high affinity for toll-like receptor 2 and may be involved in autoimmune diseases.
